EPW - Frederick Highfield, London, half-quarter-repeater, 48mm, 18K gold original HC bearing London hallmarks for 1848, "L C" marking in oval cameo for casemaker Louis Comtesse, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, KWKS, capped duplex escapement, at least 12J, diamond endstone, gilt mvt, s#5128. Gross weight of assembled watch 71.6 dwt (111.4 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, repeat function in need of overhaul as hour strikes are correct but minute strikes are frequently in error with one quarter strike omitted and an excess half-quarter strike occurring in its position (specifically, this error is occuring consistently at times of 15 to 22.5 minutes, 30 to 37.5 minutes, and 45 to 52.5 minutes past the hour), excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, scratch to main plate adjacent set-up click, some typical micro-fine scratches elsewhere; dial with two hls below seconds-register near 6; excellent hands; case shows light wear, few small nicks to band, no dents, reduced engine turning detail with loss at shoulders; tight bow; good glass crystal.
